VLC Streamer custom encoding
If you don't know your way around a sout string, then please skip this page!
To use a custom string, follow these steps:
- Pick a movie
- Tap on the Manual option at the bottom
- Select 'Use custom sout'
- Tap on 'Edit'
- Edit the sout string and press 'save' when you are done
VLC has a load of documentation and loads of examples in their forum - though they are pretty chaotic!
They do have a nice guide on transcoding movies for your iPod which introduce the main settings that we use in the sout string
